Summary
The Executive Housekeeping Manager is responsible for overseeing all housekeeping operations to ensure exceptional cleanliness, presentation, and guest satisfaction standards in alignment with Marriott Autograph Collection brand expectations. As a leader within a distinctive, luxury-oriented independent property, this role ensures that the hotel’s unique character is reflected in every detail of the guestroom and public space experience.
The position requires strategic leadership, operational excellence, financial acumen, and a strong focus on quality assurance, team development, and brand compliance.
Key Responsibilities1. Operational Leadership
- Direct and manage daily operations of the housekeeping department, including guestrooms, public areas, laundry, and linen rooms.
- Ensure all guestrooms and public spaces meet or exceed Marriott brand cleanliness and presentation standards.
- Conduct daily inspections of rooms, suites, and public areas to maintain quality control.
- Develop and maintain cleaning procedures and checklists in compliance with Marriott operating standards.
- Coordinate closely with Front Office and Engineering to ensure timely room availability and maintenance follow-up.
2. Brand Standards & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with Marriott Autograph Collection brand standards, including cleanliness audits and brand inspections.
- Prepare the department for Marriott Quality Assurance (QA) inspections.
- Maintain high guest satisfaction scores (GSS/Medallia or relevant Marriott platforms).
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest complaints regarding cleanliness or room condition.
3. Financial Management
- Develop and manage the housekeeping department budget.
- Control labor costs through effective scheduling and productivity management.
- Monitor and control expenses related to supplies, equipment, linens, and uniforms.
- Oversee inventory management, including par levels and ordering processes.
- Analyze monthly financial statements and identify opportunities for cost efficiencies.
4. Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, hire, train, and mentor housekeeping supervisors, room attendants, house persons, and laundry staff.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and performance-driven team culture.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching and corrective action when necessary.
- Ensure all team members receive brand-standard training and safety compliance training.
- Promote employee engagement and retention initiatives.
5. Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and local health regulations.
- Maintain proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals (MSDS compliance).
- Oversee safety programs to reduce workplace injuries.
- Ensure rooms meet all cleanliness and sanitation requirements.
6. Property Care & Preventative Maintenance
- Partner with Engineering to identify and report maintenance issues.
- Conduct preventative maintenance room checks.
- Assist in planning for renovations, deep-cleaning programs, and capital improvement projects.
