Your Specific Responsibilities:This Regulatory Specialist III works within the Osteopathic Unit, Bureau of Health Care Practitioners and Division of Medical Quality Assurance. This unit is responsible for the licensure of health care practitioners with specific focus on Osteopathic Medicine, Massage Therapy, Acupuncture, Midwifery, and Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. This Regulatory Specialist III will primarily focus on Massage Therapy, and Council of Licensed Midwifery.
- Manage the preparation of agendas for Board meetings, including committee and/or special task force meetings, prepare minutes and audio files, and review final orders. Schedule probable cause panels, manage agendas for those panels, and prepare minutes of those meetings.
- Process applications in the licensing database (LEIDS) or continuing education database (CEBroker) as appropriate and issue correspondence concerning application deficiencies to applicants in process or licensure to approved applicants. Also:
- Ensure that application processing and eligibility decisions comply with established criteria and time frames of laws and rules.
- Monitor accuracy and timeliness of data entered into electronic databases and maintain confidentiality and security of records.
- Maintain the Board’s internet website and ensure technology used to support boards is up to date and functional.
Performs other duties as assigned.
- Assist with administrative duties related to the processing of applications, including processing supplemental documentation, preparing supplemental documentation for scanning, and preparing refund forms.
- Analyze and recommend solutions to administrative problems relating to application deficiencies and required qualifications.
- Communicate verbally and in writing with the general public, medical community, applicants, and licensees, providing guidance regarding the regulatory process. Evaluate policies and procedures and recommend changes to improve processes and efficiency.
- Review and process applications. Be knowledgeable about all aspects of the licensing process and assist others as needed.
- Knowledge and ability to interpret Florida Statutes and administrative codes in regards to licensing and regulation of professionals and facilities, and consumer protection.
- Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
- Knowledge and proficiency in using Windows-based computers.
- Ability to learn and utilize job-specific software such as LEIDS and Axiom Pro and office equipment such as phones, fax machines, scanners, and copiers.
- Ability to compile, organize, and analyze data.
- Ability to provide consultative assistance to others.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities on a pre-approved work schedule.
- Ability to communicate and deal with people effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Preference will be given to those who meet the following minimum requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years’ experience that includes data entry, document preparation, computer software use, evaluating legal documents or evaluating for compliance with regulations, customer service, or handling sensitive information.
- College education can substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
