Position: Behavior Coach - FT
Location: Sarasota

Overview

Description

PURPOSE:

Works on a youth-care team to address the safety, supervision, instruction, practical care, behavior modification, and role modeling for residents. Assists with implementation of service plans. Helps to create a residential environment that ensures public safety while motivating residents to excel behaviorally, academically, socially, and physically.

Responsibilities
  • Provides awake supervision for residents to ensure safety and monitor behavior (including meals).
  • Maintains a structured, consistent, orderly program according to schedule.
  • Adheres to and enforces program rules and policies and applies behavior management system.
  • Guides residents, teaches, and participates with residents in an assortment of activities including: outings, facility and equipment cleaning, grounds maintenance, equipment relocation, life skills, homework, time management, meal preparation, and other events.
  • Participates in Adventure-Based Counseling (ABC) activities, as applicable.
  • Serves as a positive role model for residents.
  • Prevents resident altercations and elopements through early intervention and use of behavior modification techniques.
  • Completes accurate, legible documentation in a timely manner.
  • Implements and documents BHOS interventions/activities/responses as appropriate.
  • Meets with residents on a regular basis to discuss, plan, evaluate, and give feedback regarding goal progress.
  • Meets with residents as needed to address behavior or attitude problems.
  • Maintains facility and campus in clean, professional, and motivational manner.
  • Transports residents as necessary, according to Association policies on transportation of Clients.
  • Attends staff meetings and Case Reviews as directed.
  • Meets annual training requirements established by Department of Juvenile Justice standards, if applicable.
Qualifications

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Minimum high school graduate/equivalent, or has attained a higher level of education. Experience working with at-risk youth preferred.
