Apply insecticides to control mosquitoes as needed, and respond to customer service request. Treatments in rural and urban areas with a county issued vehicle.

Job Description

Monitors mosquito larvae and adults in assigned areas. Locates sources (larval habitats) of mosquitoes, obtains GPS readings and photos of the habitats.

Obtain written permission from owners for routine inspections and treatments on private property. Provides treatment for reduction of larval adult mosquitoes.

Maintains data for assigned areas of responsibility in the Map Vision Database or other approved systems.

Assist with virus monitoring and maintenance of Sentinel Chickens as needed.

Conduct investigations in response to customer service requests, set and collect traps, conduct landing rates and routine inspections.

Perform user maintenance of equipment; treat for larval and adult mosquitoes.

Speak with customers and provides literature on mosquitos and prevention.

Provides back-up for other service calls outside of assigned area when requested by supervisor or Manager and post signs if needed.

To fulfill the mission of MMS management of mosquitoes in permanent and non-permanent water bodies, the incumbent prepares, selects, maintains daily records of materials, equipment and supplies; and prepares reports as needed.

Monitors environmental factors including wind speed, rainfall, tidal flooding.

Maintains continuing education units for State certification in public health. Continue to professionally develop

Serve as team leader for MMS Aides. Help maintain MMS facilities, vehicles and application equipment.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:30am - 3:00pm

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent and possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License
  • Must pass Core and Public Health Pesticide Applicator’s exams within six (6) months of employment.
