Role DescriptionThis part‑time, on‑site role of a Counselor for Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) focuses on substance abuse treatment in Sarasota, FL. The Counselor is responsible for facilitating group therapy sessions, conducting individual assessments, developing tailored treatment plans, and monitoring client progress. The role also includes proper documentation of client records, collaborating with other team members, and participating in staff meetings to ensure the effectiveness of program goals.
Qualifications- Professional counseling experience in substance abuse treatment, including facilitating group and individual therapy
- Strong skills in case management, treatment planning, and client progress monitoring
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills
- Knowledge of behavioral health principles, addiction recovery, and evidence‑based practices
- Relevant certification (e.g., CADC, LMHC, LCSW) or the ability to obtain licensure is required
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate client documentation and confidentiality practices
- Familiarity with multicultural and person‑centered approaches in therapy is a plus
