Position OverviewEverglades Harvesting, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Safety Assistant to support our Safety Manager in implementing and maintaining safety programs across our agricultural and transportation operations. This hands‑on position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in the field, assisting with training, and helping ensure worker, vehicle, and housing safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct daily field and housing safety inspections under the direction of the Safety Manager.
- Assist with worker orientations, toolbox talks, and bilingual safety meetings.
- Monitor compliance with PPE, equipment use, and transportation safety rules.
- Help maintain training records, inspection checklists, and safety files.
- Support incident reporting, hazard tracking, and corrective action documentation.
- Assist in fuel, chemical, and pesticide safety oversight (HAZMAT).
- Maintain Safety Data Sheet (SDS) binders and update postings at all sites.
- Coordinate with supervisors to ensure safe working and housing conditions.
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or safety certification preferred.
- 1–3 years of safety, field, or compliance experience preferred.
- Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and H-2A safety requirements a plus.
- OSHA 10-Hour certification required (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
- CPR/First Aid and HAZMAT training preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
- Strong communication and organization skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to identify potential hazards.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and basic reporting tools.
- Able to work outdoors, travel between sites, and adapt to changing priorities.
