Requirements:

  • Five (5) or more years of professional experience auditing State of Florida contracts and grant agreements for compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Five (5) or more years of professional experience auditing State of Florida contract and grant disbursements for compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Four (4) or more years of supervisory experience.

Preference:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field.



Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Requires basic supervisory skills. The ability to plan, co-ordinate, and motivate employees in accomplishing the Bureau’s objectives. Knowledge of accounting principles, auditing procedures, laws and administrative rules. The ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. The ability to analyze, comprehend and problem solve accounting and auditing issues. Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and procedures. The ability to understand, interpret and apply laws, rules and authoritative pronouncements.

The ability to write technical accounting and audit reports. The ability to plan, coordinate and execute Bureau resources in carrying out prescribed tasks.

Incumbent should possess and exhibit key elements of a leader, including exhibiting steadiness under pressure; displaying energy and determination, setting challenging goals, delegating and coordinating effectively, promoting innovation in achieving goals; setting example for team members, and dealing directly with challenges. The incumbent should also be able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with other Departmental managers, state managers, legislature, media, service recipients, and the public.

The incumbent should be able to recruit, select and retain qualified team members, to match skills and abilities with job requirements, to appropriately assign work to staff, to appropriately evaluate staff and the work product of team members, to improve the technical skills of team members, and to actively share knowledge and mentor team members.

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

The starting salary range for this position is $85,000.00 – $90,000.00.

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Supervise Financial Administrators over five (5) Process Teams in carrying out day-to-day operations of pre-audits and contract reviews.
  • Monitor disbursement reports and provide solutions for audit issues that arise on a day-to-day basis.
  • Assists the Bureau Chief with planning, organizing, coordinating and directing activities of the Process Teams.
  • Oversees administration of personnel matters within the bureau.
  • Develops and maintains adequate training programs for bureau staff.
