Position: SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER with Security Clearance
Location: Kings Bay

  • You will serve as a senior authority and advisor for fire protection for the installation.
  • You will assess and formulate operating expenditures including staffing requirements.
  • You will Interpret new fire protection requirements and recommend the adoption or implementation of applicable policies and procedures.
  • You will direct and Interpret new fire protection requirements and recommend the adoption or implementation of applicable policies and procedures.
  • You will prepare fire protection policies for the installation and promulgate directives governing fire protection matters.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR .
  • This position works a 56 hour weekly, 112 hour bi-weekly embedded schedule. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties:
    1) Performing administrative and technical direction of the fire prevention and protection programs for a department or station to ensure long range organizational objectives are met;
    2) Directing overall Fire Department functions to include budgets, personnel, equipment, promotional activities, and operational procedures;
    3) Providing overall management of a department's structural firefighting, Marine / Shipboard firefighting, hazardous materials program, rescue and emergency medical services, nuclear reactor - radiological emergencies, nuclear surety and ordinance emergencies; and
    4) Resolving grievances, effecting disciplinary actions, setting performance standards, and assigning workload for subordinate fire personnel.
