Job Summary
Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is hiring a part‑time OPS Correctional Officer to provide services in state correctional facilities. The position is statewide, limited to 25.5 hours per week, and requires an active Florida correctional officer certification.

FDC is the third largest state prison system in the United States, operating more than 150 facilities and employing over 22,000 staff members. As a correctional officer you will join a dedicated team that ensures public safety across Florida. Career progression is available from entry‑level officer to Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Colonel, and senior management roles such as Assistant Warden or Warden.
Special teams include Rapid Response, Crisis Response, Interdiction, K‑9, and more.
Hourly wage: $22.00 per hour.
Minimum Qualifications- Active certification as a Florida Correctional Officer in good standing.
- Minimum age of 18.
- U.S. citizenship.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Clean criminal record—no felony or misdemeanor involving perjury or false statements; no dishonorable discharge from military service.
- Pass a medical examination and drug test.
- Good moral character as determined by background investigation.
- No reemployment restrictions for retired employees effective July 1, 2024.
Part‑time OPS employees (25.5 hours or less) are not eligible for personal leave or health benefits.
