When lives are on the line, these brave men and women embody the courage of America’s Navy— readily going into harm’s way to complete their rescue missions in some of the most extreme environments imaginable. Damage Controlmen are the first responders who are critical to preventing accidents. Trained in firefighting, ship stability, and chemical, radiological,l and biological warfare defense, these Sailors are masters of it all.
They also provide training to ensure that all Sailors are prepared for an emergency, since all engineers are trained as first responders and attend additional training (BECC-Basic Engineering Common Core) on the first line of defense when it comes to fires, flooding, and C attacks.

Part-Time OpportunitiesServing part-time as a Navy Reserve Sailor, your duties will be carried out during your scheduled drilling and training periods. During monthly drilling, Sailors in the Navy Reserve typically work at a location close to their homes.
