Sarasota County Government is seeking a case manager to assist with the Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR), a federally funded program assisting the unmet needs of the County following Hurricane Ian. CDBG-DR can assist with housing, infrastructure, economic development, and mitigation in low to moderate-income areas. This position is funded by the CDBG-DR grant, which will last approximately five years.
This is a unique opportunity for an inquisitive, self-motivated, and detail-oriented individual to make a positive impact on the citizens of Sarasota County.
Program Support
- Assist homeowners through each step of the recovery project, including but not limited to pre-application, application intake, document collection, eligibility review, duplication and verification of benefits, award determination, closing, and completion of the construction project. Tasks may include the determination of grant awards, eligibility, verification of benefits, and other functions associated with application processing, including quality control reviews.
- Ensure that applicants fully understand program requirements and are frequently updated on application and case status throughout the grant process from intake to closeout by communicating with applicants via phone, email, or in person on or off-site and providing quality customer service.
- Ability to maintain accurate case notes, client documentation, and financial records by gathering, scanning, and storing required program eligibility documents and other required documentation in electronic databases and case management systems as well as ensuring all hard copy and files are updated and maintained in strict accordance with established policies and procedures.
Process Improvement
- Identify potential roadblocks and assist with resolution of issues causing delays in the timely completion of the construction project or processing of their application.
- Evaluate issues and work with the Case Manager Lead to develop proposed solutions.
- Participate in regular case reviews.
E-Work/Hybrid Work: Currently this position is eligible to e-work up to 2 days per week! After you complete your first six months, contingent on work requirements and other factors, you’ll be eligible for this fantastic benefit.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m.
- 5:00 p.m.
To thrive in this position, you must have-
- An Associate degree and three (3) years job-related experience.
- OR- A Bachelor’s degree in job-related field; one-year job related experience.
- Five (5) years professional related experience can be substituted for the degree at management discretion.
Starting Pay Range: $25.45 - $27.00 per hour based on experience.
