MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of experience in apiculture, environmental protection, regulation, or health; one of the physical or natural sciences; or engineering;
- Two (2) years of experience as an Environmental Specialist I or higher with the State of Florida; or
- Two and a half (2.5) years of experience as described above.
Requires possession of a valid Class E driver license.
EDUCATIONAL NOTEGraduates utilizing education attained in the United States to meet the minimum requirements of a position will not be appointed until verification of the applicable degree has been obtained. Foreign trained graduates utilizing a degree attained outside of the United States to meet the minimum requirements of a position must be prepared to provide a copy of a credential evaluation conducted by an Approved Credential Evaluation Agency.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS- Must obtain restricted-use pesticide license within six months of initial employment and must maintain licensure thereafter.
- This position has regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of s. 112.313, Florida Statutes, and Section 60L-36.003, Florida Administrative Code.
- Moderate travel, including overnight and sometimes up to two weeks at a time on an emergency program, required.

This is a professional supervisory position responsible for planning, assigning, supervising and directing the activities of Environmental Specialists and OPS staff members in the protection, certification and regulation of all native and cultivated flora within the state of Florida.
- MANAGING: Ensures that assigned program areas have operational procedures and processes which result in accountability and compliance with the division and department policies and procedures. Monitors personnel assignments and evaluates subordinates’ workload to maintain equity and efficiency. Acts as liaison between the Environmental Supervisor II and the field activities of their staff. Investigates and resolves complaints and problems that arise in assigned area of responsibility.
- REPORTS: Reviews all reports and records submitted by subordinates for accuracy and punctuality. Assists Environmental Specialists and OPS personnel with investigations and violations of division regulations and Florida statutes. Compiles and submits a monthly report of area activities to the Environmental Supervisor II, based upon the daily reports submitted by staff members.
