Location: Palm Beach
Performs entry-level professional planning and zoning work. Reviews various types of zoning-related proposals and applications for land development permits, such as site plans, re-zonings, planned developments, conditional uses, variances, special permits, subdivisions, and plats. Reviews master sign plans, landscape plans, vegetation plans, and building permits. Prepares and reviews land development regulations and special studies, utilizing data gathering techniques and map-making as needed.
Work is performed with relative independence on technical matters within the scope of professional methods and procedures. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Senior Site Planner and is reviewed by reports, meetings, and observation of results attained.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Urban/Regional Planning, Geography, Geographic Information System (GIS), Physical or Natural Sciences, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Environmental Studies, Archaeology, Business/Public Administration, or related field.
Equivalencies:
1. Unrelated Bachelor's Degree AND one (1) year in a paraprofessional/technical position reviewing and/or processing planning, zoning, or building applications and associated tasks
2. Related Associate's Degree AND two (2) years in a paraprofessional/technical position reviewing and/or processing planning, zoning, or building applications and associated tasks
3. Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification AND four (4) years in a paraprofessional/technical position reviewing and/or processing planning, zoning, or building applications and associated tasks
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE IN/WITH:
Enforcing the United Land Development Code (ULDC) through the review of zoning applications (must specify on application); using electronic Planning, Zoning and Building (ePZB) database and application screens; and/or utilizing GIS. Also desirable:
Knowledge of site planning and design principles.
Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.
