An exciting opportunity is available for a strong leader with a diversified Florida Park Service background to fill the position of Park Manager III at Hillsborough River State Park. The Hillsborough River Park Manager also has responsibilities for Fort Foster State Park and Ybor City State Park. The staffing consists of 1 Resident Assistant Park Manager, 15 FTEs including 9 Rangers, 4 Park Service Specialists, 1 Administrative Assistant I, and OPS staff averaging 5.
Administrative- Implement, enforce, and ensure compliance with all laws, rules, operating policies, directives, leases, agreements, and permits pertaining to the areas managed.
- Select and supervise new employees, assure training, and implement disciplinary measures when necessary.
- Maintain employee relations and prepare budget requests, manage expenditures, and track appropriations.
- Oversee facility and equipment inventories and enforce fiscal control policies.
- Control work scheduling and assignments for staff.
- Manage concession agreements, special use permits, and other operating agreements or leases; effectively manage FPS contracts and agreements.
- Remove and control exotic vegetation and animals.
- Document nestling and presence of listed species; take actions to prevent predation of sea‑turtle nests.
- Plan and execute native plant restoration and prescribed burns.
- Document biological community changes and advise on management measures for the resource management plan.
- Assess maintenance needs and plan routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance to meet FPS standards.
- Supervise and participate in all maintenance tasks for facilities and support equipment.
- Develop interpretive programs and materials.
- Schedule programs and events promoting the areas managed.
- Meet the public, interpret resources, facilities, and services; resolve visitor complaints and promote positive public relations.
- Ensure safety of visitors, staff, and resources via regular inspections and enforcement of safety codes.
- Direct staff to enforce park rules regarding natural and cultural resources and facilities.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Knowledge of natural resource management practices (prescribed fire, sea‑turtle monitoring, invasive plant and animal control).
- Understanding of Florida Park Service Operations Manual and FPS maintenance standards.
- Ability to manage FPS contracts, conduct inspections, investigate problems, communicate verbally and in writing, prepare reports, establish relationships, apply rules, maintain facilities, navigate boats under adverse conditions, meet with the public professionally, prepare budgets, and supervise people.
- Ability to work rotating shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422. Successful completion of background screening will be required.
Pay$4,513.89 per month ($54,116.65 annually)
