JOB DESCRIPTION & DUTIESThis position is located within the Bureau of the Comptroller’s State and Federal Grants and Contracts Section. This position is independently responsible for creating a variety of accounting entries from cash receipts and disbursements, encumbrances and miscellaneous general accounting entries into Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR).
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide necessary assistance to the Auditor General and other State auditors in their review of Departmental accounting records.
- Review project and grant applications, plans and awards from Local Educational Agencies, Community Colleges, Universities and prime sponsors for accuracy of fiscal information and compliance with State laws and regulations.
- Review grants expenditure reports submitted by agencies for accuracy and compliance with approved budget and reporting requirements.
- Process encumbrance and disbursement entries into FLAIR on a daily basis.
- Provides daily consultation and assistance to management and staff in the management and operation of service programs and responsibilities.
- Consults with program supervisors and administrative staff to resolve programmatic, administrative and operational issues and problems.
- Collects and processes refunds owed to DOE for unspent state appropriated funds.
- Acts as liaison between the Department of Financial Services and DOE program areas to ensure prompt posting of payments to project recipients.
Required Licensure/Registration/Certification/Experience or
Education:
- Two years of professional experience working in Florida Accounting Information Resource System (FLAIR).
- Two years of professional experience with grant accounting.
- Experience using Excel.
- Experience performing complex reconciliations.
