this position will play a critical role in supporting fdot’s mission by ensuring the quality and compliance of aggregate materials used in transportation infrastructure across district
1. Through mine inspections, lab oversight, verification testing, and coordination of independent assurance evaluations, this position safeguards material integrity and promotes consistent standards statewide. Additionally, by managing data systems, assisting other material sections, and providing leadership coverage during managerial absences, the coordinator ensures operational continuity, enhances team efficiency, and strengthens the agency’s commitment to delivering safe, durable, and high-quality roads.

your specific responsibilities

inspect materials for compliance in the field with florida department of transportation (fdot) specifications. Inspect facility and operation for compliance with their quality control (qc) plan and specification requirements. Document and report findings.

perform independent assurance evaluations in the field as described in department procedures and/or the federal aid policy guide. Perform these evaluations in an objective and professional manner. Document and report findings.

perform field and/or laboratory testing in the field in accordance with the applicable florida sampling and testing methods (fstm), american association of state highway and transportation officials (aashto) or american society for testing and materials (astm) test method. Report results precisely in the appropriate database. Keep all testing equipment calibrated and in good working order.
