LocationOn‑site at the Baton Rouge, LA site. This position is open for candidates located anywhere in the United States with preference for those near a Jacobs U.S. office.
Role SummaryThe Wireless Telecommunication Project Lead designs and provides technical leadership for wireless systems in data center buildings, including Commercial DAS, Public Safety DAS, LMR, Site Radio, RoIP, Wi‑Fi, and Tower Studies. The role collaborates with BIM designers, radio system owners, carriers, and clients to produce design packages, specifications, and drawings, and to resolve technical issues.
Responsibilities- Design wireless systems using iBwave and EDX.
- Coordinate with BIM designers to create drawing packages.
- Coordinate with AHJ’s, Radio System Owners, and carriers.
- Create and modify V27 specifications.
- Conduct site visits and review technical documents.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Technical or associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience actively designing wireless telecommunications systems, including:
- LMR 2‑way radio (outdoor LMR, Site Radio, and RoIP).
- Public Safety DAS systems.
- Commercial DAS systems (OTA DAS, Neutral Host DAS, DRAN DAS).
- Experience with iBwave, EDX, Atoll, LMR Planner, or equivalent models.
- Experience working with clients to identify wireless communication needs.
- Experience troubleshooting wireless communication system issues from field teams.
- Knowledge of Noise Floor, SNIR, Return Loss, and VSWR.
- Experience optimizing networks during design and installation.
- Thorough knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 1221, NFPA 1225.
- Thorough knowledge of IFC section 510.
- Thorough knowledge of Carrier KPI’s.
- Knowledge of IBC.
- Knowledge of FCC part 20, part 90, and OET bulletin 65.
- Knowledge of MOTOTRBO systems and Motorola R56 installation standards.
- Knowledge of DMR Tier III.
- Familiarity with Navisworks.
- Self‑motivation to coordinate with other disciplines, project managers, and clients.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Familiarity with responding to RFPs.
- Experience creating a project budget.
- Experience creating and maintaining a project schedule.
- Experience identifying and mitigating company risk.
- iBwave Level 2 Certification required.
- Experience designing Wi‑Fi systems.
- EDX or Motorola design certifications.
- FCC GROL certification.
- NICET Design Certification.
- Multiple OEM product certifications.
- Electrical Engineering, Communication Engineering, EIT, or PE degree.
