Job Summary
As an electrical engineer, you will apply your knowledge of electrical engineering principles to the research, design, development, and testing of electrical systems and components. Key responsibilities include designing, modeling, simulating, and testing complex electronic circuits, creating schematic drawings, and supporting PCB design and layout. You will utilize SPICE and MATLAB for analysis and documentation while also conducting risk, failure, and root cause analyses to resolve product issues and recommend enhancements.
This role will potentially travel for product field tests, you must be able to obtain and maintain U.S. security clearance, as this role is within a defense manufacturing environment, and involves supporting cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Design, Modeling, and Simulation: Design, model, simulate, and test complex electronic circuits, subsystems, and systems.
- Analog Circuit Design: Perform creative design of analog electrical functions such as filters, power supplies, and gain blocks from specifications or descriptions.
- Design Modification: Assist engineering with design modifications of electronic subsystems and systems for development efforts.
- Documentation and Schematic Creation: Create schematic drawings and support PCB design, layout, and routing; prepare documentation for engineering and manufacturing as required.
- Design Analysis: Understand and review designs for analytical purposes to evaluate performance and functionality.
- Analysis Tools: Support designs with analysis simulations and calculations using SPICE programs and MATLAB.
- Component Selection: Identify and select specific electrical components based on design requirements and performance specifications.
- Testing and Execution: Plan and execute product or sub-assembly tests; conduct complex in-house tests.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Document results, including deep-dive data analysis of captured test data; keep accurate and complete records of all engineering activities.
- Leadership and Mentoring: Direct, guide, and mentor other engineers; provide communications and presentations to customers, suppliers, or vendors.
- Risk and Failure Analysis: Apply risk, failure, and root cause analysis as required within the engineering discipline.
- Product Lifecycle Management: Resolve product process and system issues; initiate ECNs; formulate cost impacts; and maintain Development and Production Bills of Materials (BOM) for obsolescence.
- Field Operations: Participate in product field tests, which may include travel.
- 4-year degree from an accredited university in Electrical Engineering or related field OR a combination of education and demonstrable work experience in electrical design engineering.
- A minimum of 2 years of work experience preferably in an Engineering Department.
