The Systems Engineer is responsible for defining, managing, and maintaining the technical baseline of a complex defense weapon system throughout its lifecycle—from prototype development through production readiness. This role ensures system-level requirements, interfaces, and performance objectives are clearly defined, traceable, and satisfied across all subsystems. The Systems Engineer serves as the technical integrator, coordinating mechanical, electrical, software, manufacturing, and test activities in support of Government requirements and acquisition milestones.
Responsibilities- Compliance with ITAR, DFAR, and other relevant regulations and policies.
- Develop, manage, and maintain system-level requirements, including allocation to subsystems and verification methods.
- Establish and manage requirements traceability using approved tools and processes.
- Define system architecture, interfaces, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
- Lead or support technical reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR, and test readiness reviews.
- Coordinate system integration activities across engineering disciplines and suppliers.
- Support configuration management and change control to maintain technical baseline integrity.
- Develop and maintain system verification and validation (V&V) plans.
- Support Government-led test and evaluation activities, including preparation of test articles and technical data.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate system-level technical risks.
- Ensure compliance with Government-furnished Technical Data Packages (TDPs), MIL-STDs, and contract requirements.
- Support transition from prototype development to production and Full-Rate Production readiness.
- Other project and work as assigned by management.
- Candidates must be ITAR Authorized US Persons.
- Must be lawfully permitted and comfortable working in facilities that handle firearms and munitions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering supporting defense or aerospace programs.
- Demonstrated experience in requirements development, allocation, and traceability.
- Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes and engineering lifecycle reviews.
- Experience working with cross-functional engineering teams and suppliers.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Must be willing to travel on average 25–30%, both internationally and domestically; travel may vary based on business needs.
- Master’s degree in Systems Engineering or Engineering Management.
- Experience supporting weapon systems, munitions, or other safety-critical systems.
- Familiarity with MBSE tools and methodologies.
- Experience supporting Government test and evaluation programs.
- Active or eligible U.S. security clearance.
This role supports a hands-on engineering program and requires collaboration across multiple disciplines and facilities. Occasional travel to manufacturing sites and Government test locations may be required.
