Overview
Job Description: This position has the responsibility and authority to schedule and dispatch FPL generation resources to economically balance load and generation in order to meet real-time system conditions and to comply with applicable regulatory requirements and NERC reliability standards. The role includes evaluating and approving OASIS requests and Tags, performing energy accounting functions, and performing next-day generation planning. On a temporary basis, the position may perform certain system operator functions when the on-shift System Operator is away from desk.
The role also involves planning, scheduling, and tracking to ensure regulatory and operational compliance, developing work orders, coordinating between operations, and leading scheduling processes for maintenance, compliance, and project execution. It also supports event response, root cause analysis for operational efficiency improvements, and rapid recovery from loss of generation to meet NERC requirements. Performs hourly and on-peak/off-peak energy accounting with adjacent balancing authorities.

Responsibilities- Develops and maintains work orders, ensuring regulatory compliance and efficient execution.
- Assist with event response and emergent issues; coordinate scheduling for maintenance, compliance, and project execution.
- Perform load forecasts to optimize the FPL generation dispatch mix and ensure sufficient resources to meet requirements.
- Coordinate committing, decommitting, and outages of power plants with FPL’s System Operator and PGBU.
- Ensure rapid recovery from loss of generation to comply with NERC requirements.
- Evaluate and improve work management execution; participate in event response and lead root cause analysis for improvements.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or professional certification required. - Relevant
Experience:
6–10 years in scheduling, operations, or power system planning. - Other:
Experience in load forecasting, transmission and distribution operations, and real-time system planning;
Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification required.
