This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Professional Geologist II for our Tallahassee office. This position is a contract-dedicated position supporting a client-specific program. Be involved in site contamination cleanup projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact- The successful candidate will facilitate assessment and cleanup of petroleum contaminated sites to protect groundwater in Florida.
- Prioritize assessment for petroleum contaminated sites in Florida.
- Verify investigation data in technical reports, maps and summary tables.
- Work with project staff to generate site specific scopes of work for procurement of site assessment services.
- Prepare written approvals and comments for project reports and deliverables.
- Coordinate with team members for technical decisions including approval of deliverables and issuance of site rehabilitation completion orders.
- Communicate effectively in meetings and video calls with property owners, consultants and regulatory professionals.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or geological sciences.
- 5-7+ years of professional experience in environmental protection, regulation or health.
- Licensed by the State of Florida as a Professional Geologist.
- Experience with site contamination assessment or groundwater monitoring.
- Ability to mentor and guide junior staff members.
- Experience in the FDEP Petroleum Restoration Program.
- Ability to organize and prioritize a complicated workload to meet established deadlines and metrics.
