This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Professional Geologist II for our Tallahassee office. This position is a contract-dedicated position supporting a client-specific program. Be involved in site contamination cleanup projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact
  • The successful candidate will facilitate assessment and cleanup of petroleum contaminated sites to protect groundwater in Florida.
  • Prioritize assessment for petroleum contaminated sites in Florida.
  • Verify investigation data in technical reports, maps and summary tables.
  • Work with project staff to generate site specific scopes of work for procurement of site assessment services.
  • Prepare written approvals and comments for project reports and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with team members for technical decisions including approval of deliverables and issuance of site rehabilitation completion orders.
  • Communicate effectively in meetings and video calls with property owners, consultants and regulatory professionals.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or geological sciences.
  • 5-7+ years of professional experience in environmental protection, regulation or health.
  • Licensed by the State of Florida as a Professional Geologist.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with site contamination assessment or groundwater monitoring.
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior staff members.
  • Experience in the FDEP Petroleum Restoration Program.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize a complicated workload to meet established deadlines and metrics.
