This position will have the responsibility and authority to schedule and dispatch FPL generation resources to economically balance load and generation in order to meet real-time system conditions and to comply with applicable regulatory requirements and NERC reliability standards. This position is also responsible to evaluate and approve OASIS requests and Tags and for performing energy accounting functions. Also, has capability to perform next‑day generation planning function and can perform, on a temporary basis, certain system operator functions whenever the on-shift System Operator is away from desk (bathroom breaks, etc.).
Responsible for planning, scheduling and tracking, ensuring compliance with operational and regulatory requirements. Develops work orders, ensures coordination between operations, and leads scheduling processes for maintenance, compliance, and project execution. Evaluates and improves work management execution, participates in event response, and leads root‑cause analysis for operational efficiency improvements. Coordinates committing, decommitting, and outages of power plants with FPL’s System Operator and PGBU.
Ensures rapid recovery from loss of generation to comply with NERC requirements. Performs hourly and on‑peak/off‑peak energy accounting functions with adjacent balancing authorities.
- Oversee strategic planning and scheduling efforts, ensuring regulatory compliance and optimizing load‑generation balance.
- Provide technical leadership in power system forecasting, emergency planning, and compliance with industry regulations.
- Develop, submit, and modify monthly Tags for FPL’s dynamic schedules.
- Develop work orders, coordinate between operations, and lead scheduling processes for maintenance, compliance, and project execution.
- Evaluate and improve work management execution, participate in event response, and lead root‑cause analysis for operational efficiency improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or professional certification required.
- 15+ years of experience in advanced scheduling, power system operations, and project coordination within FPL and PGBU.
- Extensive experience in NERC‑certified operations, outage planning, and operational risk management.
- Power Coordinator Certification preferred.
