Job Description: This position will have the responsibility and authority to schedule and dispatch FPL generation resources to economically balance load and generation in order to meet real‑time system conditions and to comply with applicable regulatory requirements and NERC reliability standards. The role also evaluates and approves OASIS requests and Tags and performs energy accounting functions. It can carry out the next‑day generation planning function and, when necessary, perform certain system operator functions on a temporary basis.
Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, and tracking to ensure compliance with operational and regulatory requirements, developing work orders and coordinating operations, leading scheduling processes for maintenance, compliance, and project execution, evaluating and improving work‑management execution, participating in event response, leading root‑cause analysis, and coordinating committing, decommitting and outages of power plants with FPL’s System Operator and PGBU. The position ensures rapid recovery from loss of generation to meet NERC requirements and performs hourly and on‑peak/off‑peak energy accounting functions with adjacent balancing authorities.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or professional certification required.
Relevant Experience15+ years of experience in advanced scheduling, power system operations and project coordination within FPL and PGBU.
Responsibilities• Oversees strategic planning and scheduling to ensure regulatory compliance and optimize load‑generation balance.
• Provides technical leadership in power system forecasting, emergency planning and industry regulation compliance.
• Develops, submits and modifies monthly Tags for FPL’s dynamic schedules.
• Develops work orders and coordinates scheduling for maintenance, compliance, and project execution.
• Evaluates and improves work‑management execution, participates in event response and leads root‑cause analysis for operational efficiency.
• Coordinates committing, decommitting and outages of power plants with FPL’s System Operator and PGBU.
• Performs hourly and on‑peak/off‑peak energy accounting with adjacent balancing authorities.
Extensive experience in NERC‑certified operations, outage planning and operational risk management;
Power Coordinator Certification preferred.
