Location: Lecanto
The Engineering Design Technician performs technical work of conducting reviews, inspections, and evaluation for various project construction plans and details. The schedule for this full-time position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The schedule may be altered to an augmented 4/10 work week upon successful completion of the six (6) month probationary period.

- Drives and/or operates a county vehicle or equipment and must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.
- Reviews plans and calculations submitted with permit applications for residential and non-residential projects to ensure compliance with standards, ordinances, and laws.
- Reviews and process Right-of-Way permit applications, Finished Floor Elevation Affidavits, Waiver Applications and site grading plans to ensure compliance with standards, ordinances, and laws.
- Performs technician work of reviewing plats, subdivision and construction improvement plans, nonresidential permit applications, calculations and as-builts to ensure compliance with standards, ordinances, and laws.
- Provides driveway, FFE, soil erosion and sediment control and site inspections for all permitted projects to ensure compliance.
- Attend meetings with applicants, contractors, and consultants.
- Meets and coordinates with state and other agencies.
- Facilitates the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 Liaison Committee meetings for Citrus County.
- Performs other duties as required.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent;
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferred. - Two (2) years’ experience in general civil engineering design, site development, residential development, transportation projects, and stormwater related projects.
- Knowledge interpreting field surveys, site topography, plan review, site grading and construction.
- A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirements listed above.
- Valid Florida Driver License or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS required.
- Must have or be able to obtain within one (1) year of employment, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Intermediate Level Maintenance of Traffic and Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), Stormwater Management Inspector certifications.
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) in a clear, confident manner using proper grammar.
- Requires ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public.
- Must have strong working knowledge of computers and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of Products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Must have or be able to obtain certification within 90 days in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses:
