Storm Duty Requirements
Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.
Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment.

POSITION CONCEPT:
The Combined Cycle Specialist (CCS) reports to the Superintendent of Generation for the performance of all assigned operating and maintenance tasks. The incumbent is responsible for the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of station equipment and systems. This includes monitoring, operating, and maintaining conditions that ensure reliable operation of the station's equipment, compliance with all applicable NERC standards and environmental permits.
In addition, the CCS is responsible for following all water management guidance, completing individual and teamwork assignments, and ensuring an optimum and professional response to the customer’s (Energy Control Center) directives.
Prior to appointment to the CCS position, individuals must be able to pass (and maintain) physical requirements to allow participation on an Emergency Response Team; including but not limited to physical exam / PFT (pulmonary function test), and fit tests for the personal respiratory protection equipment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure safe work practices and station safety programs are followed. Ensure Corporate, Energy Supply Department (ES), Polk Power Station Policies are understood and followed.
- Successfully complete all required training and assessments within the time allocated for each position step. This is to include emergency response training (i.e. Confined Space Rescue, Hazmat, Incipient Fire, First Aid / CPR).
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skill needed to perform effectively in all operating positions; (Control Room, Field Operators Combustion (Turbine Generators and Steam Turbine Generator, Balance of Plant and others as assigned). Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- ability to perform accurate rounds, turnovers, documenting and sharing of information
- operate station equipment in all modes: start-up, shutdown, normal and abnormal/upsets
- perform Hazardous Energy Control (HEC) program functions
- initiate/work/complete work orders utilizing the Computerized Maintenance Management System
- Perform all assignments in a safe and efficient manner.
- Be able to perform at a journeyman level within the individual CCS’s core craft skill (i.e. electrical, mechanical, or I&C) Aid other CCS’s with any maintenance task as needed.
