Grammar School Full-time Substitute Teacher

We are seeking an experienced, reliable full-time substitute teacher to join our team of educators. In this position, you will work in the absence of our regular teachers, aiding scholars in their daily tasks and helping to ensure the understanding of the subject matter being covered. You should have some classroom teaching experience and possess the skills needed to cover daily instruction and run the classroom environment in a classical fashion.

Overview

• Position:
  Full-time, hourly, 10-month non-exempt
• Work Schedule:
  
  7:45 AM - 3:30 PM daily, 177 days, plus occasional training days provided in advance
  • Benefits:
  Insurance benefits the first of the month following 60 days of full-time employment, 3% match of employee retirement contribution after a one-year vesting period, and 5 days of PTO.
• Reports to Administrative Assistant

Specific tasks required of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Execute lessons that lead scholars to master daily standard-aligned objectives, faithfully using our rigorous, classical curriculum.
• Take attendance according to the school procedures.
• Deliver classical instructional methods and activities.
• Maintain a professional attitude in all manner of conduct when working with scholars, faculty, and parents, including a commitment to confidentiality.
• Manage the class by setting clear behavior expectations, continuing to establish reasonable routines, and promoting self-discipline.
• Maintain a highly ordered classroom culture where scholars and staff demonstrate respect, responsibility, caring, trustworthiness, fairness, and citizenship.
• Cultivate fundamental habits of virtue consistent with the school's outlined mission and purpose.

• High school diploma required; college degree preferred
• Certificate in Teaching preferable
• Alignment to Classical Prep's mission and vision.
• Detailed oriented and able to follow written and oral instructions.
• Able to communicate effectively with faculty.
• Able to cultivate relationships with scholars in a brief time period.
• Confident and capable of instructing in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Willing and able to work standing for most of the day with few breaks to sit.

Overtime Eligibility

This job is not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, therefore eligible for overtime pay.
