What You’ll Do

The Director of Institutional Research and Planning is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the collection, analysis, and dissemination of data to support the strategic planning, decision‑making, and continuous improvement efforts of Tallahassee State College. This position collaborates with various departments to ensure data‑driven strategies that enhance academic excellence, operational efficiency, and student success.

Day‑to‑day, you’ll be responsible for:

1. Data Management and Analysis
  • Lead the development and maintenance of comprehensive data systems to ensure accurate and timely collection of institutional data.

  • Analyze trends in enrollment, retention, graduation rates, student demographics, faculty and staff metrics, financial data, and other key performance indicators.

  • Provide actionable insights through detailed reports and presentations to inform institutional strategies and policies.

2. Reporting and Compliance
  • Prepare and submit required reports to accrediting agencies, state and federal entities, and other stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards related to data privacy, reporting, and institutional accreditation.

  • Stay updated on changes in reporting requirements and implement necessary adjustments to data collection and reporting processes.

3. Strategic Planning Support
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define and track institutional goals and objectives.

  • Provide data‑driven recommendations to support long‑term strategic planning and resource allocation.

  • Monitor progress towards strategic initiatives and assess their impact on institutional performance.

4. Collaboration and Communication
  • Serve as a liaison between institutional research and various academic and administrative departments.

  • Promote a culture of evidence‑based decision‑making across the institution.

  • Communicate complex data findings in a clear and understandable manner to diverse audiences, including faculty, administration, and external stakeholders.

5. Team Leadership and Development
  • Manage and mentor the institutional research team, fostering professional growth and development.

  • Assign tasks, set performance goals, and evaluate team performance.

  • Encourage a collaborative and innovative work environment to enhance the effectiveness of the institutional research function.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a candidate who brings not only technical expertise but also a passion for education and student success. Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Statistics, Data Science, Business Administration, or a closely related field is required.

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in institutional research or a similar role within the higher education sector.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and execute research projects that inform institutional strategies and decision‑making processes.

  • A Doctoral Degree is highly preferred, showcasing advanced expertise and dedication to the field.

  • Experience with institutional research databases and systems (e.g., Workday, Banner, People Soft, CRM platforms).

  • Advanced statistical analysis skills.
