ResponsibilitiesSTEM/STEAM Instructor Specific:
- Teach hands‑on, inquiry‑based STEM courses with integrated lab experiences for high school students in the Upward Bound Math & Science Summer Academy. Focus on experiential learning, scientific reasoning, and college‑level lab exposure to prepare students for STEM majors and careers.
- Design and deliver engaging STEM coursework that incorporates laboratory‑based experiments, demonstrations, and applied research activities.
- Develop age‑appropriate lab modules that emphasize the scientific method, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
- Ensure safe operation of laboratory spaces, including proper use of equipment, materials, and adherence to all safety protocols.
- Comply with university policies, laboratory safety standards, and federal TRIO regulations.
- Create an engaging grade‑level appropriate course curriculum for each course taught.
- Effectively implement curriculum developed for each course to include utilizing a variety of teaching techniques.
- Provide feedback on students’ performance via quantitative or qualitative methods.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to build rapport with youth.

Anticipated Salary RangeStarting at $22 per hour, commensurate with education and experience.

Instruction occurs during the UBMS Summer Academy (June 1, 2026 – July 10, 2026; 9 AM – 2 PM; hours will vary based on program needs). May include laboratory sessions, field‑based scientific investigations, or research simulations.
Instructor must be available for preparation, set‑up, cleanup, and supervision of lab activities.
