Responsibilities

The FSU Office of Digital Learning & Academic Technology (ODL) is seeking customer-service-oriented Test Proctors to join our team as we support quality online instruction at Florida State University. We offer a collegial, innovative work environment that’s passionate about excellence, quality, and collaboration. As a Test Proctor, you’ll be part of creating a welcoming, secure experience for testers. Primary responsibilities include admitting testers in and out of our testing facility, proctoring exams, and office-clerical work.

These responsibilities are described below.

  • Admit testers in and out of the facility.
  • Upon entrance: greet testers, check registration and photo , ensure devices are turned off, secure unauthorized items, review test-specific policies, and provide testing materials based on test requirements.
  • Upon exit: greet testers, collect test materials (including scratch paper), and close the test registration.
  • Proctor testers in the testing room using camera systems, screen monitoring software, and traditional methods; monitor for suspicious behavior and report concerns to a supervisor.
  • Complete office administrative work and maintain facility cleanliness. Shred used scratch paper and sensitive documents. Monitor and respond to personal emails. Assist the team with special projects during slower periods.
Qualifications
  • Due to NCTA and CLEP test regulations: 21 years of age or older and not enrolled in undergraduate-level coursework at any college or university.
  • Regularly work between 15 and 25 hours per week between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday–Friday, including finals week (April 27 – May
    1).
  • Maintain a consistent work schedule and follow procedures precisely with attention to detail.
  • Handle secure and confidential information with care and provide courteous customer service.
  • Maintain professionalism in a team-based environment and perform well under high-stress situations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to work 10 additional hours or more during finals week (April 27 – May
    1).
  • Bachelor’s or associate degree (BA/BS or AA/AS).
  • 1 year or more of customer service experience.
  • Student or work experience in a college or university setting.
  • Experience handling secure and confidential materials or information.
  • Proficiency with computers.

Anticipated Salary Range
  • This position starts at $15.00 per hour and can earn up to $15.75 per hour. Increases may be granted for strong job performance.
  • This position is eligible to earn overtime pay of time-and-a-half (1.5x) when working 40 or more hours in one pay week.
  • Vacation and sick leave are not included; benefits may include health insurance, discounts, and automatic enrollment in the 401(a) FICA Alternative Plan.

Considerations

This is an OPS/temporary job. The position may require completion of a criminal history background check. Training is provided on-the-job and typically takes two weeks. The Testing Center hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday; during finals week (April 27 – May
1), hours extend to 8:00 am – 8:00 pm, Monday through Friday. This position is advertised until April 15. Applications will be reviewed throughout the semester as needs arise. Qualified candidates will be contacted via email to schedule interviews.
