Duties
* Provides individual career, academic, and force development advisement to military personnel of all ranks, their dependents, and/or civilian personnel pursuing undergraduate/graduate, vocational, technical, licensure/certification, and professional development opportunities at various levels.
* Serves as technical expert on a variety of educational programs.
* Provides mass briefings and a variety of outreach and customer services duties.
* Performs a variety of administrative duties related to the educational counseling program. Requirements Conditions of employment

* This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program.
* Disclosure of Political Appointments.
* Work occasionally requires travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
* Personnel data to which the incumbent has access are controlled by the Privacy Act of 1974 and must be safeguarded appropriately.
* A Secret clearance required
* May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which include evenings and weekends.
* I am a current Air Force Employee assigned to Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC). Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-1740, Education Service series. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: A degree that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the position to be filled in one or a combination of areas as described in the following.

1. Tests and measurement:
Study of the selection, evaluation, administration, scoring, interpretation, and uses of group and individual aptitude, proficiency, interest, and other tests.
2. Adult education:
Study of the adult as a learner, teaching learning theories for adults, models and procedures for planning, designing, managing, and evaluating adult learning activities.
3. Educational program administration:
Study of the foundation and methods in organizing for adult and continuing education programs.
4. Curriculum development or design:
Study of the principles and techniques for development of curricula for adult or vocational education programs.
5. Teaching methods:
Study of teaching strategies and learning styles of the adult learner.
6. Guidance and counseling:
Study of the purposes and methods in counseling and guidance, the role of the counselor in various settings, approaches to counseling, and the uses of tests in the counseling situation.
7. Career planning:
Study of career development, learning activities, systems, approaches, program coordination, use of educational and community resources, and vocational counseling systems.
8. Occupational information:
Study of theories of occupational choice and vocational development and their application to the guidance process. Identification and utilization of various types of occupational information and resources. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED
EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level (or higher) or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of DoD, AF, and major command directives, concepts, procedures, guidance, and policy as they relate to the area of responsibility. Knowledge of education theories, principles, and techniques, and the ability to use those techniques to gather educational and personal information in order to advise individuals regarding educational and vocational needs/opportunities.
Knowledge of military and civilian occupations and occupational trends and the physical, mental, educational, and experiential requirements of various occupations applied with a knowledge of educational institutions and programs to make appropriate recommendations. OR
EDUCATION:
Applicant must have successfully completed two years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree directly related to the work of the position.
