As a 1st Grade Teacher, you will develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines, establish effective rapport with students, staff, and parents, and serialization of high expectations for all learners.
You Will Impact Education
- Plan and implement a program of instruction that adheres to CSUSA’s philosophy, goals, and objectives.
- Develop purposeful lesson plans that maximize time on task and provide effective teaching strategies.
- Present subject matter to students, maximizing learning opportunity and providing real‑world, application‑based examples.
- Review student records to understand each student’s needs and maintain accurate, complete records.
- Strive to maximize educational achievement of each student.
- Utilize a range of student learning modalities and differentiated instruction.
- Use diagnostic assessment of student learning frequently, maintaining accurate and complete records.
- Assess strengths and weaknesses regularly, providing appropriate activities and generating progress reports.
- Refer students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
- Coordinate class field trips as required.
- Prepare students for state‑required achievement assessments.
- Remain current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory, sharing knowledge to improve curriculum.
- Assist in ongoing curriculum revision, including written courses of study, selection of books, equipment, and instructional materials.
- Become acquainted with supplemental services beneficial to students.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
- Maintain positive rapport with students, demonstrating patience and nurturing to aid growth.
- Ensure the classroom is clean, safe, and includes student‑generated work on display. Implement all relevant student conduct policies.
- Develop reasonable classroom and playground behavior rules in accordance with CSUSA policy and maintain order fairly and consistently.
- Develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines and goals.
- Plan individual and group learning activities designed to meet instructional objectives and student needs.
- Prepare for classes assigned and provide evidence of preparation upon request.
- Collaborate with other staff during curriculum planning meetings.
- Incorporate diagnostic information into planning, as required in the student’s IEP.
- Take necessary precautions to protect supplies, equipment, materials, and facilities needed to implement the instructional program.
- Build cooperative relationships and communicate with parents/guardians when appropriate.
- Communicate clearly, consistently, and positively with parents via appropriate mediums.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and participate in parent communication activities.
- Participate in extracurricular activities to support a positive school culture (as required).
- Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment toward the position and the mission of CSUSA.
