Dental Assistant

Compensation: $22.50-$31.50 / Hourly

Specialty Dental Assistants

If assigned to a specialty area (Endodontics, Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Periodontics or Pediatric), you will primarily support clinicians within that specialty. Specialty assistants may be required to have additional training and must maintain a valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation to travel to multiple offices per day when required.

Responsibilities
  • Perform duties in accordance with the applicable state’s Dental Auxiliaries Table of Permitted Duties.
  • Actively participate in the Perfect Patient Experience (PPE), focusing on patient needs while maintaining optimal care.
  • Escort patients to/from the front desk and introduce them to team members as appropriate.
  • Communicate with front and back office teams to keep the schedule running smoothly.
  • Maintain a clean, sterile, and pleasant environment.
  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment; clean each operatory per state infection control guidelines.
  • Prepare patients for treatment and assist clinicians to enable efficient, quality care.
  • Complete radiographs and intra‑oral pictures under clinician direction.
  • Prepare tray setups and maintain adequate supply levels in each operatory.
  • Keep patients’ mouths dry and clear using suction or other devices.
  • Instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care as directed.
  • Record patient charting and clinicians’ notes in the digital patient chart.
  • Present treatment records, consents, and health history to clinicians before treatment.
  • Ensure equipment maintenance per manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Lead Dental Assistant to manage clinical supplies.
  • Operate and demonstrate technology to other team members.
  • Participate in daily morning huddles, monthly team meetings, and other required meetings.
  • Model company culture, values, and best operational practices.
  • Demonstrate stewardship of the PDS Brand and Make decisions consistent with the brand framework.
  • Implement the Perfect Patient Experience process to gain Patients for Life.
  • Maintain professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, as well as state, federal, and regulatory bodies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • State‑mandated training, certification, licensure, or registration.
  • For specialty assistants: valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
  • Reliable transportation; background and motor vehicle record checks required.
Preferred
  • One‑year certificate from an accredited college or technical school (or equivalent education and experience).

  • Respond to inquiries from patients, staff, vendors, and community members.
  • Apply judgment and make decisions under pressure.
  • Interact effectively with clinicians and owner doctors.
  • Interpret and apply policies and procedures.
  • Read and analyze documents such as journals, manuals, safety rules, and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively in verbal and written forms to patients and coworkers.
  • Interpret instructions in written, verbal, or diagram form.
  • Use basic computer software.
  • Be results‑oriented: energetic, self‑starter, goal‑oriented, persistent.
  • Provide customer service: flexible, empathetic, ethical.

  • Work independently or as part of a team.
  • Multi‑task effectively without compromising quality.
