This position prepares dental patients for evaluation, assists dentists in providing high-quality dental care, and ensures the maintenance of sterile dental equipment and a clean, well-stocked, and efficient dental department.
MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS (Florida Compliant):- Graduate of a Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)–accredited dental assisting program or a Florida Board of Dentistry–approved dental assisting school
. - Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) Certification, obtained through a Florida Board–approved Expanded Functions course and successful completion of required competency examinations (Rules 64B5-16.005 and 64B5-16.006, F.A.C.).
- Florida Dental Radiographer License through the Florida Department of Health (FDOH), meeting Rule 64B5-9.011, F.A.C.,
including completion of a Florida Board–approved radiology course and required formal training to legally position and expose radiographs under dentist supervision as a Dental Radiographer Certificate. - Current valid BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification.
1.Obtain proficient knowledge of CFHC’s philosophies, goals, and objectives. Comply with all organizational, state, and federal guidelines.
2.Understand and follow the requirements of CFHC’s Exposure Control Plan; utilize Universal Precautions.
3.Attend dental staff meetings and mandatory corporate meetings.
4.Assist with Quality Control processes.
5.Maintain adequate supplies; submit requisitions to the Facilities Manager with approval from the Health Center Administrator.
7.Place and remove periodontal dressings.
8.Assist dentists in operative, surgical, periodontal, preventive, removable and fixed prosthodontic, endodontic, and pedodontics procedures.
9.Provide diagnostic assistance, including exposing radiographs, recording medical and dental histories, recording vital signs, and taking preliminary impressions for study casts.
10.Apply sealants and fluoride; perform prophylaxis and provide oral hygiene instruction to children.
11.Prepare the patient and coordinate check-in/check-out with reception.
12.Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment.
15.Assist in managing dental and medical emergencies.
16.Clean dental laboratory, operatory, autoclave, x-ray processor, and ultrasonic cleaner.
17.Assist with screening and education programs, including off-site activities.
18.Check patients in and out at the front desk when needed.
19.Coordinate services with off-site dental laboratories.
20.Maintain OSHA standards for handling and removal of biohazardous waste.
21.Maintain complete and accurate dental patient records.
22.Demonstrate enthusiasm, dependability, versatility, and a strong work ethic.
23.Work cooperatively with the dental team; support coworkers.
24.Communicate compassionately with patients while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
25.Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
26.Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Dental Officer and Health Center Administrator.
27.Maybe required to travel between dental offices to assist with providing patient care.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:- Standing/walking/sitting for long periods
- Independently mobile
- Ability to lift weight equivalents to what would be required when (and if) asked to assist and position patients, reposition equipment and lift supplies.
- Ability to adapt and function in varying environments of workload, patient acuity, worksites and work shifts.
