Position Summary: The Skilled Laborer supports site development operations, including grading, trenching, and underground utility installation for residential communities. This role requires hands-on experience with civil construction tasks and collaboration with equipment operators, foremen, and subcontractors to maintain safety and efficiency.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in hand and power tools (shovels, compactors, saws, etc.)
- Ability to perform physical outdoor labor
- Familiarity with trench safety, pipe laying, grading, and civil site work
- Ability to read construction plans and stakeout marks
- Knowledge of job site safety and OSHA standards
- Ability to work independently and under direction
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in residential or commercial site development
- Knowledge of utility installation (storm, sewer, water)
- Familiarity with GPS or laser leveling equipment
- Ability to operate light construction equipment (skid steer, mini-excavator)
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- 2-4 years in site development or heavy civil construction
- Experience with grading, trenching, or underground utilities
- OSHA 10-hour certification preferred
- First Aid/CPR certification a plus
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record
- Ability to travel to job sites
- Work hours vary; evening and weekend work required
- Familiarity with Florida Panhandle region
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening
Physical Requirements:
- Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing during shifts
- Work with hands overhead and lift 50-90 pounds frequently
- Manual dexterity for handling tools and materials
- Safe operation of mobile equipment
- Work on uneven surfaces and in extreme weather conditions
- Exposure to construction environment noise, dust, and grease
