The Work You Will Do

The incumbent in this position is responsible for performing duties in support of the Child Labor enforcement initiative. The incumbent must have a thorough working knowledge of the Florida Child Labor Law, Chapter 450, Part 1, Florida Statutes.

Your Specific Responsibilities
  • Reviews and analyzes complaints and creates all Child Labor investigation correspondence in the department’s automated licensing system. This includes Notices of Investigations, warnings, and follow-up correspondence which may include notification of unfounded or “now in compliance” letters. Reviews all correspondence for grammatical and factual errors prior to forwarding to the appropriate party for signature. Reviews and processes all Child Labor cases.

    Creates case record in the automated licensing system and performs all updates, including disposition, status change, and addresses, in the system as needed.
  • Scan, index, and add all investigation documents in the department’s document management system. Duplicated and mails correspondence to employers which may include, but is not limited to, letters, brochures, and Child Labor posters, etc. Faxes and receives waivers for processing. Provides assistance with the processing of Entertainment Waivers and On-the-job training or Work Experience waivers during peak workload periods.
  • Answers 75% of incoming phone calls regarding Child Labor waiver applications and status, entertainment permits, Child Labor laws and requests for records of investigation results, etc.
  • Maintains Hotel and Restaurant post report and Investigator walk-in report.
  • Assembles investigation training packets for quarterly sweeps, prepares purchase requisitions, and prepares Administrative Complaints for the Office of the General Counsel.
  • Assists the Child Labor team with related projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to use available technology to perform duties including computer software, hardware, and data systems.
  • Experience formatting, editing and creating comprehensive correspondence using Microsoft Office and e-mail correspondence using Microsoft Outlook.
  • One year Administrative or Clerical Office experience.
Preferred
  • High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • A valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • Experience in a regulatory field.
  • Proficient in using OnBase and Versa Regulation.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply applicable Florida Statutes, laws, policies and procedures.
