JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position is an OPS temporary accounting position that is located in the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation’s (DVR) Financial Payments Section administratively assigned to the Bureau of the Comptroller. This position is responsible for a variety of accounting duties as well as other office duties.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist by answering the switchboard and opening and sorting the mail.
- Audit and process client service authorizations.
- Assist by answering telephones and inquiries about payments.
- Assist with processing other vendor payments in the section.
- Request duplicate warrants and copies of warrants from the State Comptroller’s Office.
- Serve as backup for the Accountant II desk.
- Assist with processing payments in the AWARE system.
- Scan and attach completed deposits, warrant cancellations, and EFT cancellations to the files.
- Scan and file refund journal transfer voucher schedules processed for payment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
- Attendance at work is an essential job function.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Licensure/Registration/Certification/Experience or
Education:
- Accounting experience.
- Experience in answering a switchboard.
- Experience in using office equipment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of state and federal requirements specific to financial payments for DVR.
- Ability to prepare financial statements and reports.
- Ability to review fiscal data for accuracy and completeness.
