Job Description & How to Apply Below

Viable is a concierge-level financial planning and investment advisory firm serving high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients. Our team provides strategic guidance across wealth management, retirement plans, and insurance, with a focus on clarity, trust, and exceptional client service.

We are expanding our retirement plan advisory practice and seeking a Director of Retirement Plan Services to lead service delivery, build strong sponsor and participant relationships, and help us grow this important business line.

Role Overview

The Director of Retirement Plan Services will:

  • Lead fiduciary advisory services for employer-sponsored retirement plans (401(k), Defined Benefit, etc.)
  • Work directly with plan sponsors to clarify objectives, benchmark and select vendors, and guide decision-making
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for participants, delivering education scaled to their level of sophistication
  • Collaborate with firm partners to transition service responsibilities, while escalating complex strategy discussions as needed
  • Coordinate with internal staff to design and implement SOPs and workflows for the retirement plan business
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to cross-sell Viable’s financial planning, investment advisory, and insurance solutions
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct annual and periodic plan reviews with sponsors, using structured fiduciary frameworks (e.g., Fi360 methodology)
  • Develop and execute a repeatable process for vendor selection, benchmarking, and investment lineup monitoring
  • Deliver participant education sessions and provide individualized guidance where appropriate
  • Manage day-to-day plan service inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate resolution
  • Partner with operations to build scalable systems and workflows for the retirement plan business
  • Support business development efforts, including prospect meetings and relationship building in the region
  • Maintain compliance with ERISA, DOL, SEC, and related regulations
Qualifications
  • Active (or willing to obtain)
    Series 65 license (required)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in retirement planning advisory or fiduciary consulting
  • Strong understanding of plan sponsor needs, recordkeeping/administration dynamics, and fiduciary best practices
  • Exceptional communication skills — able to engage both executive sponsors and diverse participant groups
  • Highly organized with the ability to balance technical detail and relationship management
  • Certifications preferred but not required:
    CPFA, AIF®, QKA, CFP®
  • Residency in Eastern PA, Central or Northern NJ with willingness to travel regularly to client sites
Why Join Viable?

At Viable, we’re not a traditional advisory firm. We take a financial advocacy approach , guiding business owners through every aspect of their financial lives — personal wealth, business planning, retirement plans, and insurance. Our “Discover, Design, Deploy” process ensures systematic, consistent delivery across all client relationships.

For the right candidate, this means:

  • Access to a pipeline of successful business-owner clients who need retirement plan expertise
  • The ability to contribute within a team-based, process-driven environment where roles are clearly defined
  • A growth platform with opportunities for cross-selling, revenue sharing, and long-term career progression
Who You Are

You are a seasoned retirement plan advisor who blends technical expertise with relationship-building skills. You’re energized by sitting across from business owners and guiding them through complex plan decisions — but equally comfortable running a participant education session or collaborating with internal staff to improve workflows. You bring a fiduciary mindset, entrepreneurial drive, and a passion for helping organizations and individuals succeed through retirement planning.
