Embedded Software Engineering Manager – Florham Park, New Jersey

Full‑time—Engineering category, onsite with up to 10% local travel. Salary range $131,800–$290,000.

The Embedded Software Engineering Manager leads a team of 5+ engineers focused on embedded software for complex electro‑optical systems. The role directly contributes to software design, documentation, and implementation, and requires daily on‑site attendance.

Responsibilities
  • Manage day‑to‑day operations of a group of 5+ embedded software engineers.
  • Contribute to design, documentation, and implementation of software for complex electro‑optical systems.
  • Report to the Director of Software Engineering.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • 10+ years as an individual contributor in embedded software engineering with increasing responsibility.
  • 5+ years as a first‑line manager of at least five individual contributors.
  • Strong knowledge of C/C++ for embedded computing platforms.
  • Deep understanding of both bare‑metal and RTOS environments.
  • Familiarity with Python.
  • Deep knowledge of ARM processors and familiarity with other processor architectures.
  • Understanding of peripheral interfaces/devices (SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, ADCs, DACs, PWM, Timers, USB) at the hardware level.
  • Experience with source code control systems (e.g., Git) and defect tracking systems (e.g., Jira).
  • Understanding of software development/test methodologies and best practices.
  • Understanding of configuration management.
  • Ability to read schematics and Verilog/VHDL code.
  • Ability to use common lab test equipment (DMM, oscilloscope, signal generator, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux application programming.
  • Active security clearance.
  • Aerospace/defense contracting experience.
  • Experience with cyber‑assurance and cyber‑security.
