Retail Event Coordinator –
Michaels Stores

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events (including kids birthday parties) within a Michaels store to provide a stress‑free, fun, and engaging experience for guests. Deliver friendly customer service, help customers shop and find what they’re looking for, and ensure fast and friendly checkout. Complete operational tasks such as truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards to uphold Brand promises.
Event Coordination- Plan and coordinate multiple events at once, including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other store events.
- Engage with clients of all ages (4–94+) by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
- Demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects; perform face painting and other activities.
- Facilitate and implement party add‑ons (goody bags, balloons, etc.) to company standards.
- Communicate event details with clients and store team members.
- Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and filing paperwork.
- Adjust plans and events based on client feedback and needs.
- Create backup or emergency plans when needed.
- Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
- Uphold cleanliness and safety standards. Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
- Assist customers in locating products and provide solutions.
- Provide fast and friendly checkout experience.
- Engage customers on the benefits of the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards; complete enrollments.
- Educate customers on the Voice of Customer (VOC) survey.
- Assist with Omni‑channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).
- Participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram processes.
- Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance.
- Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned.
- Support shrink and safety programs.
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company policies to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
- Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner; remain positive and promote the organization’s values.
- Cross‑train in Custom Framing selling and production.
- Participate in daily store cleaning activities (sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, restroom maintenance).
- Energetic, enthusiastic personality.
- Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with guests of all ages and co‑workers.
- Excellent people skills and experience working with children and children’s events.
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, non‑verbal) and active listening.
- Organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem‑solving skills.
- Retail and/or customer service experience required.
- Ability to remain standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to move throughout the store.
- Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
- Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.
- May involve outdoor work, handling of glass cutter and heat press (Frame shop).
- Work hours may include nights, weekends, and early mornings.
