Salary Range: USD $18.00 - USD $20.00 (Hourly)

Location:

On the road, roving work throughout the Carolinas. Travel:
Travel Required; meals and lodging reimbursement apply.

Schedule:

4 ten-hour days per week.

What you will do
  • Inspect power line rights-of-way to assess vegetation conditions and determine required maintenance activities based on client specifications.
  • Maintenance planning activities including machine work, herbicide application, capital projects, and unplanned response work. Complete plans thoroughly and with a high level of accuracy.
  • Perform tree health assessments – Level 1 and Level 2, Tree Risk Assessment.
  • Notify property owners of assessments and obtain necessary permissions for vegetation management work.
  • Research and document property ownership for owner notifications.
  • Document and record information with mobile devices using GIS software.
  • Operate with the highest level of personal and public safety.
  • Communicate daily with the utility client, contractors, landowners and the general public; respond to emails and phone calls promptly.
  • Drive a company vehicle safely to work locations.
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What you need to have
  • Solid tree identification skills and the ability to read maps.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, the ability to multi-task, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work alone outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
  • Basic computer skills.
What would be amazing to have
  • Current ISA arborist certification.
  • Current ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) certification.
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science or related field preferred.
  • Previous Forester/Arboriculture/Tree Care working experience.
Working Environment

Work with a team and alone in outdoor field environments and/or low light conditions; foot patrol of energy corridors near power lines/pipelines; remote locations and urban environments; travel between sites; exposure to various weather conditions, noise, dust, and hazards; potential for hazardous traffic conditions, domestic and wild animals, insects, and poisonous plants. Other working conditions may include time in a vehicle or limited time in an indoor office.

Physical

The employee must have sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment, including walking up to 10 miles per day, standing, sitting, and operating a motor vehicle for prolonged periods; bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, twisting, and repetitive hand/arm movements; lifting up to 60 lbs on occasion; operating field equipment and communicating with the public; good vision and hearing (with or without correction).
