Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Med/Surg position requiring an active SC or compact license and the ability to work every other weekend.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Medical Surgical unit of a hospital

• Night shifts, 4x12 hours, 7:00 pm - 7:30 am

• Usual nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6, may flex to 1:7 if needed

• Every other weekend required

• Float within scope to similar units as needed

• PRN low census on-call requirement

• Uses Epic EMR, experience required

• Royal Blue scrubs required

• Responsible for comprehensive nursing care of adult Med/Surg patients, requiring monitoring and responding to changes in patient condition

• First-time travelers are accepted for this position

• Previous permanent or PRN employees must have a one-year separation before being eligible as a traveler

• Pre-start online modules required, approximately 4 hours to complete

• Free on-site parking provided

• All RTO must be submitted at time of application; facility approval required for more than 7 days or any holiday RTO

• Employees may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June-November)

• Block scheduling approvals may be requested but are not guaranteed

Requirements

• Active SC or compact RN license in hand prior to start

• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience preferred

• AHA BLS certification required

• ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred

• Experience with telemetry, MS/Tele, insulin administration, and rapid response

• Epic charting experience required

• Must live at least 60 miles from facility; local candidates not accepted

• Must provide Social Security card and driver's license for consideration
