7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Olsten Staffing is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Machine Operator to join our Florence, SC team. The Machine Operator is responsible for the set-up, operation, and monitoring of folder manufacturing equipment to produce products that meet quality and performance standards. The role contributes to overall cell operations, including CLAIR, TPM, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate works collaboratively with team members, maintains high standards of safety and quality, and ensures smooth, efficient production flow.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Set up and operate production machines, ensuring products meet specifications.
- Perform machine changeovers, including filling ink, threading paper rolls, inserting dies, and adjusting gears.
- Read and understand production orders; complete daily documentation accurately.
- Inspect finished products and maintain product flow throughout the manufacturing process.
- Recognize machine malfunctions quickly and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
- Stack and organize products according to warehouse standards.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas, including aisles, emergency exits, and packing stations.
- Ensure adequate supplies are available to maintain continuous operations; request materials as needed.
- Accurately count products, remove scrap, and package or stack folders efficiently.
- Monitor and maintain product quality to meet specifications.
- Follow safety procedures, including lock‑out/tag‑out protocols, proper lifting techniques, and PPE requirements.
- Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of machinery per CLAIR and TPM guidelines.
- Develop familiarity with raw materials and equipment in assigned work areas.
- Support team efforts and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operational goals and customer satisfaction.
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a team‑oriented environment.
- Maintain a work pace consistent with machine production levels.
- Physically capable of performing job duties (standing, lifting, reaching, manual dexterity).
- Basic mathematical skills.
- High school diploma preferred.
- Manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to operate standard hand tools and hand lift trucks.
- Comfortable using a calculator, ruler, and other measurement tools.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and high‑performance mindset.
- Work performed indoors; temperatures may vary seasonally.
- Must have good eyesight and the ability to distinguish colors.
- Requires full range of body motion and repeated lifting at waist to chest height.
- May require exposure to hazardous chemicals (OSHA‑compliant training provided).
