The Medical Informaticist reports to the Director, Clinical Systems Architecture. Under limited supervision, the Medical Informaticist serves as an OCMIO informaticist to maximize the practical utility of healthcare information technology (HIT), particularly Epic, on an enterprise‑wide basis. This position utilizes advanced clinical knowledge combined with information technology expertise to enhance HIT utilization identifies sub‑optimal HIT usage in clinical settings within the medical center and develops improvement strategies.
The Medical Informaticist facilitates communication and organizes workgroup meetings with end‑users, Epic teams, and medical center leadership. It serves as a resource to staff and assists educators/trainers in developing education literature and training programs to promote training and understanding of Epic use. The role collects and assists with rank ordering user enhancement requests related to Epic and other HIT applications.
The position may work up to 20% of the time as an NP or PA in a clinical setting at MUSC, with the balance of time spent throughout the hospital and clinics serving as an OCMIO informaticist.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, and 1 year of experience.
