PATIENT DINING ASSOCIATE / DIETARY AIDE (FULL TIME)
Location:
McLeod Regional – 555 East Cheves Street, Florence, South Carolina 29506. Online applications only.
Schedule:
Full time, days may vary (6:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m., rotating weekends). More details upon interview.
Compensation: $15.00 per hour, fixed rate.
Requirement:
Prior customer service experience required.
Job Summary
Patient Dining Associates work on assigned units in a healthcare facility, helping patients make menu selections, assemble, deliver, and pick‑up their meal trays. They are part of the caregiving team, ensuring patient safety and satisfaction by delivering accurate meals at the right time and temperature.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Help patients understand menu selections and work with nursing to ensure orders comply with nutritional requirements or restrictions.
- Work with caregivers and culinary team to determine menu alternatives for patients with allergies, cultural, ethnic, or religious preferences, or additional selections upon inquiry.
- Manage tray tickets and assemble meals per patient’s menu selection timely and accurately; retrieve trays from patient rooms at assigned times.
- Comply with regulator agency standards, including federal, state, and JCAHO; adhere to HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Follow Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines when handling food, cleaning work stations, and breaking down tray lines.
- Follow facility and department infection control policies and procedures.
- Assist dietitians in monitoring patients who cannot eat orally, are on liquid diets, or require specific calorie counts.
- Communicate problems or concerns with patients to appropriate personnel promptly, following department procedures.
- Complete all daily, weekly, or monthly reports as outlined in Morrison Healthcare policies and procedures.
- Comply with federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures.
- Perform other duties assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English.
- Basic computer and mathematical skills.
- Occasional lifting or moving up to 100 pounds and maneuvering food delivery carts required.
