Job DescriptionPeace Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for a Part Time, 0.80 FTE, Variable position. The salary range for this job opening at Peace Health is $22.56 – $33.48. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc. This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement.

Responsible for operating autoclaves and other equipment to clean, decontaminate and sterilize instruments and equipment, including power equipment as applicable. Also responsible for inspecting and assembling instruments, trays and packs.
Details of the Position- Responsible for the coordination, assembly and distribution of supplies, equipment and instruments for surgical cases.
- Re-stocking inventory.
- Cleaning, decontaminating, disassembling and sterilizing instruments and supplies.
- Operate a variety of sterilization equipment.
- Clean and maintain department equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma Preferred or equivalent
- Preferred:
Completion of a National Central Service Technician course and/or six months experience as a Sterile Process Technician
- Required:
within 1 Year National Sterile Processing/Distribution Certification from IAHCSMM, CBSPD or other nationally recognized certifying body - Required:
within 1 Year CER Certified Endoscope Reprocessor if working in PHMG
- Basic computer skills including MS Office applications. (Required)
- Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communications. (Required)
- A minimum of three (3) months’ experience as a Sterile Processing Technician preferred or three (3) month’s experience in other medical related role.
- Active enrollment (within 90 days of hire date) in educational program/training for National Central Services Technician Course to obtain certification requirements within one year. Provide proof of enrollment, course progress or completion required.
- Must be able to manage conflict effectively and professionally.
- Excellent time management skills with an emphasis on meeting time sensitive deadlines.
- Good customer service skills and good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
- Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment, frequently.
- Lift/Carry:
Frequently up to 25 lbs. - Push/Pull:
Frequently up to 10 lbs. force. - Reaching frequently.
- Squat/kneel occasionally.
- Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
- Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
