Required Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree in Education, Teaching, Adult Education, TESOL/TEFL, or Special Education, or related field AND either: 24 undergraduate or graduate credit hours in mathematics OR a teaching license with an endorsement in an area relevant to mathematics instruction.

Experience

  • Two (2) years secondary, special education, or adult education experience teaching basic skills or life skills.
  • One (1) year experience teaching basic math or life skills math OR two (2) years secondary, special education, or adult education experience teaching developmental level math.

Licensure or Certification Requirements

  • Professional development in the Oregon Adult College and Career Readiness Standards and use of CASAS data upon employment within ninety (90) days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Education

  • Completion of Oregon Adult College & Career Readiness Standards (OACCRS) Orientation and subsequent training modules.
  • Completion of similar Adult College & Career Readiness standards training from a different U.S. state.

Experience

  • Recent experience (within the last 5 years) teaching adults in a community college setting.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: teaching adults or youth with learning disabilities; family or workplace literacy; working with multi-level learners; articulating to and/or coordinating with work or educational settings, community agencies, or programs related to student advancement and success.
Essential Functions

Student Learning Support

  • Exhibit compliance with college policies and procedures, accountability for leave time, timesheet completion, and related functions.
  • Sustain currency in discipline and innovation in teaching.
  • Collegial participation in faculty performance evaluation process.
  • Maintain and post office hours in alignment with college expectations.
  • Maintain physical campus presence for instruction and daily needs.
  • Maintain requirements for student records, attendance, grades, and other documentation; ensure a safe, quality classroom or lab, including equipment, supplies, and inventory.
  • Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to privacy needs.
