The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy technician staff and ensuring efficient and effective operation of the pharmacy. This position directly supervises the pharmacy technicians' daily workload, and plans, directs, and reviews the work assignments for each employee. The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor is accountable for managing the day-to-day activities of the technician staff, providing staff development, and evaluating the level of technician performance.
The technician supervisor, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, will assist in the various activities of the pharmacy department. The technician supervisor functions in accordance with standard written procedures, guidelines and state and federal regulations.

Job Responsibilities- Supervise the day-to-day operations of the technician group of employees.
- Hire, transfer, suspend, promote, discharge, assign, reward, discipline, direct associates, or adjust associates' concerns/complaints.
- Under the direction of the Manager, provide input on how to perform tasks and how to achieve goals.
- Delegate and check daily assignments.
- Prioritize and delegate tasks and projects within the department.
- Schedule appropriate coverage when necessary.
- Provide ongoing oversight of daily technical functions addressing opportunities as they present themselves to assure that operational areas run smoothly and the department meets demands for services in an accurate and timely manner.
- Assure proper charge capture and accountability for budgeted revenue.
- Create and work schedules, vacation schedules, time off and overtime.
- Develop and maintain the technician and extern schedule. Responsible for overseeing the variances with the technicians' hours to minimize overtime while maintaining optimal patient care.
- Assist with developing annual budget with a focus on technical hours and positions.
- Review monthly DBVR and impact of staffing, overtime and scheduled time off.
- Monitor, develop and maintain expenses within approved budgeted guidelines.
- Coordinate and oversee all training and orientation for new technicians.
- Verify completion of their initial competency assessment to ensure work expectations are clearly identified.
- Evaluate technician staff and recommend advancement to the various technician levels available based on performance and ICARE/AIDET.
- Assure effective communication by conducting technician meetings on a bi-monthly basis by developing an agenda.
- Responsible for written and verbal communications as needed.
- Assess and follow up on issues appropriately with documentation as needed.
- Maintain an open-door policy to enhance communication.
- Complete the management section on the annual technician performance appraisals.
- Ensure completion of annual competency skills checklist to comply with training qualifications.
- Maintain and update the technicians/externs job descriptions as needed.
- Maintain and update the technician component of pharmacy policies and Standard Operations procedures (SOPs).
- Act as a member of the pharmacy leadership team and participate in huddles and meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED
- Current National Pharmacy Certification (CPHT)
- Kentucky Board of Pharmacy Registration
- Demonstrates supervisory and coaching skills
- Superior problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Superior customer service and communication skills
- Three years of healthcare experience
