Application Engineer

Overview

As a beverage-focused application engineer in the Regal Rexnord conveying team, you will serve as the technical liaison for customers, district managers and customer service representatives. You will translate customer drawings, specifications, and detailed requests into product solutions that meet the customer’s application needs. You will create quote and selection tools, technical sales documents & presentations, and training material to educate end users, distributors and colleagues about our product offering and selection.

• Support sales in project/product discussions, product introductions, and provide technical recommendations
• Provide technical advisement to colleagues (customer service and sales), distributors, OEMs, end users, etc., via phone or email. On-site visits are common within the contiguous United States and Canada
• Develop BOMs and provide budgetary estimates based on customer specifications
• Collaborate with key beverage OEMs and customers on component specifications and new product development
• Coordinate with sales on new business opportunities, application solutions, training, lunch & learns, etc.
• Create slide decks about products/applications/projects and present them online or on-site
• Assist in creating documents and programs for conveying products and their usage (e.g., Product Catalog, engineering manual, case histories, calculation software, declarations/certificates)
• Investigate claims (visiting customer sites if necessary) at the request of sales, quality control, R&D, production, external laboratories, etc. Provide detailed reports with observations, actions, conclusions and advice
• Perform line audits and support Premium Service topics (run-dry, BOM development, cleaning optimization, etc.)
• Research new technologies and report opportunities for development; participate in ideation for new products and improvements through product engineering, design, and R&D
• Collect reference information on site (supported by pictures/video) to develop recommendations and solutions to application concerns
• Participate in exhibitions and trade shows as necessary
• Train new colleagues in sales, customer service and engineering roles
• Support sales, new hires, and training initiatives with distribution partners
• Support plant operations with cost-saving initiatives and a culture of continuous improvement
• Escalate sales opportunities to account executives when discovered

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and/or 3+ years of equivalent related experience
• Demonstrated organizational skills with emphasis on detail and documentation
• Ability to travel and work at customer sites for extended periods
• Be an appreciative engineering sparring partner to customers developing new solutions using our products
• Strong relationship and team-building skills, including conflict resolution
• Eagerness to learn and look beyond the main question when communicating with or visiting the customer
• Customer-facing contact who can quickly react to claims and requests, engaging other departments to service the customer with speed
• Cooperate with sales colleagues and specialists and engage with our global engineering team
• Request training where applicable to improve knowledge
• Microsoft Office, Teams, One Drive/SharePoint, Salesforce; SAP or Oracle experience is a plus

• Travel to North American customer locations (25-50%), and international travel (~5%) is required

• Fluent in English (written and spoken); basic proficiency in at least one other language is a plus
