Position Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides advanced clinical care under approved practice guidelines in a variety of outpatient, inpatient, and specialty settings. This role is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing patients; developing and implementing care plans; coordinating care with physicians and interdisciplinary teams; and delivering high-quality, compassionate, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities (Across All Departments)
Maintain a professional image and provide excellent customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff
Assess patient needs using history, observation, physical examination, and diagnostic data
Document findings; develop differential diagnoses; formulate plans of care and prognosis
Plan, implement, and coordinate care to meet holistic, age‑specific patient needs
Perform physical examinations and preventive health measures per practice guidelines
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive care plans
Foster an environment of compassion, respect, integrity, and professionalism
Role-Specific Duties (May Vary by Department)
Schedules (Varies by Department)
Hospitalist roles may follow 7‑on/7‑off schedules with day shift coverage and/or night call
Urgent Care schedules vary by site and coverage needs
Breast Program hours may follow weekday clinic schedules (e.g., Monday–Thursday and partial Friday)
Occupational Health schedules align with clinic and employer‑site needs
Required Qualifications / Education
Master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner from an accredited program required.
New graduates may be considered in select departments (e.g., Surgery, Pain Management, Digestive Health, Cardiology, Neurosurgery)
Two (2) years NP experience required for Urgent Care/Emergency Department and Hospitalist roles
Three (3) years NP experience required for Occupational Health / Industry Clinic roles
Cardiovascular nursing experience required for Vascular Services consideration
Three (3) to five (5) years NP experience required for Breast Surgery / Breast Program roles
Licensure / Certifications
Active South Carolina RN license with APRN designation verified by the SC LLR
National certification as a Nurse Practitioner by an approved accrediting agency
Prescriptive authority (or eligibility to obtain, depending on role)
BLS required
ACLS required for Hospital Medicine, Critical Care, and Vascular roles
