THIS RECRUITMENT IS FOR BOTH HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR TRAINEE AND HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR.
JOB SUMMARY - HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR TRAINEE
PAY GRADE 05
STARTING SALARY: $34,500.00
Perform entry-level work in the operation of specialized trucks and motorized equipment used for a variety of job functions in the Public Works Department (PWD). Under close supervision, operate tools and equipment in accordance with safety regulations and procedures. This is a trainee position that can transfer into the Heavy Equipment Operator Series. Non-Competitive appointment into the Heavy Equipment Operator is contingent on successful completion of the certifications and training specified.
JOB SUMMARY - HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
PAY GRADE 07
STARTING SALARY: $39,411.00
Perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the operation of specialized trucks and motorized equipment used for a variety of job functions in the Public Works Department (PWD) and operate tools and equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures under basic supervision.
Heavy Equipment Trainee
- Operate a variety of specialized equipment to maintain Pinal County roads, roadways, drainage systems, and infrastructure, following safety regulations.
- Operate PWD vehicles and motorized equipment, including light trucks, water trucks, mowers, loaders, and backhoes.
- Perform manual labor tasks, repair potholes, clear debris, move and set barricades.
- Work on assigned projects and make decisions based on experience.
- Maintain daily logs, reports, and maintenance records.
- Clean and perform routine maintenance on trucks and equipment; identify and report problems requiring repair.
- Follow safety rules, report hazards, and assist with safety procedures.
- Perform duties during emergencies and cross-train in PWD methods and safety.
- Clean up spills and unsafe conditions promptly.
- Follow written and verbal instructions; uphold accountability, commitment, and teamwork values.
- Maintain confidentiality of work-related issues and restricted information.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Heavy Equipment Operator
- Operate heavy equipment to maintain roads, drainage, and infrastructure in accordance with safety regulations.
- Work independently to operate a range of equipment including graders, dozers, end dumps, and more.
